Canal-side salt
Broadbeach Waters is canal country, and the water side of a house is a different job from the street side.
Salt drift comes off the canal on the afternoon breeze and settles on render, aluminium and the pool fence, so the rear elevation and the boat-side path almost always need more work than the frontage anyone sees from the road.
Roofs and gutters
That standing moisture reaches the roof too. Tiles on the shaded canal side hold lichen the way nothing on the street side does.
They get a soft wash at low pressure rather than a hard pass that lifts a tile or drives water under a lap.
The big established trees on these streets fill a gutter faster than owners expect.
Working near the canal
Whatever we lift has to be controlled rather than pushed towards the canal: we work away from the water, put drain protection down first and use biodegradable products.
Access and brick walls
The blocks are wide and side access is generous enough that gear rarely has to come through the house.
Older brick places along the canal streets hold lichen on every shaded wall and fence line as well.
How we work
- We photograph the whole job before we start, damage included. You get the full set either way.
- Drains protected, plants covered, biodegradable products. What we lift is kept out of the stormwater drains.
- Walls are washed from the ground.
- Fibro and asbestos cement — fibro cladding, a Super Six roof, eaves, a pre-1990 fence — identified on the walk-around, left as found and documented in writing.
- We clean. Coatings, sealing and restoration are left to the trade that holds the QBCC licence for that work.
