My fence was cleaned before and it is rough now. How do you clean it?

That texture is torn wood fibre from too much pressure on an earlier clean, and we point it out on site before we start. We then clean at low pressure, so the mould and grey film are killed and rinsed off and the raised grain is left as found.

What will cleaning do for my old fence?

It looks dramatically better. Cleaning removes what is growing on and in the surface — mould, algae, lichen and the grey film. Split palings and rusted-out steel are photographed and documented before we start. A well-cleaned twenty-year-old fence looks like a well-kept twenty-year-old fence.

The white powder on my block wall keeps coming back. Why?

Because the salt keeps arriving with the water. While ground water is moving through the wall from the damp soil behind it, every drying cycle leaves more on the face. We wash it off and check the weep holes are clear; clear weep holes and better drainage slow it down.

Do you need to go into my neighbour’s yard?

Only if the fence needs doing from both sides, and only with their agreement, which we ask you to arrange first. We also need to know about their dog before we know about their fence.

Can you get to the retaining wall behind the garden bed?

Usually. We need somewhere to stand and somewhere for the run-off to go, and we work both out at the quote. Beds along the fence are wet down first and rinsed after.
