- How is travertine cleaned?
- Travertine, a soft porous limestone, is protected from the two things that ruin it: high pressure and acid-based cleaners. It gets low pressure, the right solution and dwell time, with a test patch first. Any etching or pitting from an earlier clean is pointed out on site before we start.
- Can you get the sunscreen and suntan oil marks out?
- Usually, yes. Sunscreen and body oil are a degreaser and dwell-time job, so that is what they get. Where oil has been soaking into unsealed porous stone for years, we tell you what to expect while we are standing on it with you.
- The paving is slippery. Will cleaning fix it?
- In most cases, yes: the slipperiness is biofilm sitting in the surface texture, and removing it gives back the grip the surface was made with. We clean at a pressure that protects that texture rather than polishing it flatter.
- Can you do the glass pool fence and the stainless at the same time?
- Yes, and it is worth doing together. Glass panels, spigots and handrails get washed and rinsed with fresh water as part of the job — the freshwater rinse is what coastal stainless needs. Any mineral etching or tea-staining already there is pointed out on site before we start.
